Hello from a new user! [May. 12th, 2005|01:19 am]

szayaz
My name is Steve Zayaz. I am 35 years old. I live in Denver, Colorado. My favorite NWOBHM bands include Holocaust, Angel Witch, Witchfinder General, Savage, Tygers of Pan Tang, Quartz, and of course Iron Maiden. Speaking of Maiden, I got my tix today to see them here in Denver in August. I can hardly wait. I saw them a couple of years ago with Motorhead and Dio. Man...what a show!

The most valuable or obscure albums I own include two compilations: one called Live and Heavy (Nems Records) and the other called Metal Killers (Kastle Killers Records). To be honest, I'm not sure how valuable or obscure they are. You can find either of them on any given day on good ol' eBay! But they are both significant albums in that they broadened my horizons when it came to hard rock/heavy metal...and that led to my love of NWOBHM. Prior to that, I listened to "staples" like Van Halen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Priest, Sabbath, and Zeppelin. But those two albums turned me on to a much wider array of hard rock/heavy metal - bands like Motorhead, Nazareth, Rainbow, UFO, Status Quo, Accept...and of course, NWOBHM bands like Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, Quartz, Sledgehammer, and early Def Leppard.

The bands/albums/songs that had the most profound impact on my musical tastes would have to be Van Halen's first album, AC/DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Back in Black albums, Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny album, Led Zeppelin II, and the first time I heard Sabbath's Iron Man on the radio. I was absolutely blown away!
